Dear Mr. Editor,
I am grateful for allowing me the space to share my thoughts about comments made against Mrs. Ophelia Hoff Saytumah, former Mayor of the Municipality of Monrovia.
I want to state for the record that Mrs. Saytumah has at no time established fake companies to funnel the Liberian people money into her personal accounts as claimed by Mr. Martin Scott in his letter to the editor captioned “Payroll Fraud is Nothing New in the Liberian Government”.
Prior to her appointment as Mayor of Monrovia on March 27, 2001, Mrs. Saytumah was operating the Ophelia Travel Agency founded in 1982 and later established Help Inc. in 1990 before the escalation of the Liberian Civil war.
I was opportune to work with the Ophelia Hoff Saytumah administration at the City Hall and I can safely say without prejudice that Mr. Scott’s assertion about Mrs. Saytumah is unfounded and lack any iota of truth.
