The House of Representatives through its Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Budget, has announced the formal opening of public hearings into the Draft 2026 Supplementary Budget currently before the Legislature.
According to a release from the House Press and Public Affairs Bureau, the hearings will commence on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in the First Floor Conference Room of the House of Representatives.
The hearing process represents a critical step in promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusive national dialogue around the proposed fiscal adjustments aimed at strengthening economic governance and advancing Liberia’s development priorities.
Key institutions, including the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning and the Liberia Revenue Authority, along with other relevant stakeholders, are expected to appear before the Committee.
They will provide clarifications, defend projections, and engage lawmakers on key aspects of the Supplementary Budget, including revenue mobilization, expenditure realignment, and service delivery.
The Committee emphasized that the hearings go beyond procedural requirements and are essential to reinforcing public confidence in the national budget process. It assured citizens, development partners, and institutions that deliberations will be conducted with openness, professionalism, and a firm commitment to the national interest.
Additionally, the Legislative Budget Office will provide technical support throughout the hearings to ensure evidence-based analysis and informed decision-making.
