Monrovia – Grand Gedeh County electoral district three Representative, Alex Chersia Grant, has vowed that road rehabilitation remains his top most priority for the people of Ploe Chiefdom, Gboe-Ploe Administrative district in Grand Gedeh County.
Rep. Grant made the statement Thursday when citizens of the chiefdom gowned him and his wife for identifying with them in their difficult times.
But they called upon him to ensure that their roads are rehabilitated. The event took place on Friday, April 27 at the Capitol Building, office of the Legislature.
In a special statement read during the honoring program, the Grand Gedeans said the chiefdom has been marginalized due to lack of roads and bridges. This, they said, is undermining the efforts of their lawmaker.
“We want you to note that due to the continue deplorable condition of our roads and bridges, the chiefdom has been marginalized and deprived of developmental freedom by the past Unity Party local government officials in the county. They failed to know that Ploe Chiefdom is part of Liberia,” they said in a statement.
Due to the lack of roads, the citizens said they have missed opportunities from the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL), especially the quick impact project.
They named good education system, health facilities and hand pumps as some of the basic social services the chiefdom lacks.
Responding, the Grand Gedeh County district #3 lawmaker assured his constituents that with “God’s power, I will ensure that the chiefdom gets roads to ease the difficulties faced by the citizens in that part of county.”
According to him, the engineers from the Ministry of Public Works have already carried on their assessment on the 51kilometers to begin its rehabilitation.
The CDC’s lawmaker said the administration of President George Weah cares for the people and as such discussions are underway to address their plights.
He, however, called on them to hold together because development comes with unity.
