Buchanan – A 39 year old man identified as Mark Gbolozeo was on Thursday February 8, stabbed to death in Waka Town, District #2, Grand Bassa County.
Eyewitnesses told FrontPageAfrica that Sabastain Reeves stabbed the decease during a heated argument at a local entertainment center in the district.
Janet Doe, who watched the incident, said the tragedy occurred in a shop, where alcohol and drugs are sold.
“We were all sitting in the alcohol shop when Mark and Sabastain came, they bought drinks and drank together but after a few times they started arguing about a motorcycle tube and that’s just how they started fighting,” she explains.
“We all shouted when the fighting started but the late Mark hit the mouth of Sabastain and blood started coming out, so Sabastain pick up a sharp instrument and stabbed Mark”.
Alexander Weegar, a relative of the decease, could not pieced together the reason Reeves killed his brother Mark, who he said has been the perpetrator’s best friend.
“These two young guys were always together and worked together but I was surprised to hear that one of them killed the other,” Weegar said.
“When I came here people told me that they were both in alcohol when they jumped into a fist fight.”
Weegar told reporters that the decease had eight children – 7 boys and a girl.
Mark used to cut palm and ride motorcycle before feeding his children, he said.
Joe Reeves, administrator of the clan, said the community has complained to the county authorities and the Liberian National Police to help put stop to the sale of drugs in the community but to no avail.
“We’ve talked this thing over and over and again for people to stop selling drugs in this place but they are hard to hear – see what drugs have done,” he said.
“While investigation is going on about Mark Gbolozeo death I am going to start enforcing it that drugs will no longer be sold in this place.”
The death of Mark prompted an angry mob that burnt the house of Sebastian Reeves in the Bible Industry Academy or BIA community along the Monrovia-Buchanan highway.
Reeves escaped but was later arrested by citizens and turned over to the Police.
