Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa Ends Capacity Building Training for Women

MONROVIA – Eighteen rural women from diverse background have ended a two-day workshop that is geared toward promoting gender equality and women empowerment.

The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa with support from the African Women’s Development Fund held the two days gathering from May 31 to June 1 at the Golden Key Hotel, in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

The Gbowee Peace Foundation Africa (GPFA) Program Manager David Konneh said the Liberian Women Lead Project seeks to build a movement of women to know their rights and speak out on issues that affect them.

He revealed that the just ended workshop will create women’s policy agenda that will be adopted and presented to the government.

The Women have lauded the Gbowee Foundation along with it partner the African Women’s Development Fund for the gathering saying it have strengthened them to go out and compete with male counterparts.

They promised not to sit on the fence no longer but will served as good ambassadors to speak on issues that upset them in the Country.

The 18 rural women who are participating in the two days’ event come from Montserrado, Bomi, Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu and River Cess Counties.

The Women Lead Project according to our correspondent is the first in a series of three workshops and the next training is expected to take place in Grand Gedeh and Bong for the remaining 10 counties.
