Malaysia — Former Liberian international footballer and youth development specialist Albert Stages Kamara has officially launched his fifth elite sports academy, Power Sports International Academy (PSIA), in Miri, Sarawak, Malaysia.
At 43, Kamara has spent several years quietly expanding his vision across Asia, dedicating his post-playing career to creating opportunities for young athletes through quality coaching, education, and character building.
Rather than pursuing the spotlight, he has focused on establishing sustainable grassroots sports programs that bridge athletic excellence with academic achievement.
Kamara first built his reputation through the Power Soccer Academy in Myanmar before expanding the organization into PSIA, an international youth development brand that now operates across multiple countries.
Over the years, his academies have trained thousands of young athletes, providing structured pathways into professional football, higher education, and personal development.
Before launching PSIA in Malaysia, Kamara served as the Assistant Sports and Activities Coordinator at the International School Yangon (ISY), where he played a pivotal role in developing school sports programs while refining the coaching philosophy that now defines PSIA.
A credentialed sports professional, Kamara holds a UEFA B Coaching License through the German Football Association (DFB) alongside additional qualifications in sports coaching, youth development, and sports administration.
His technical approach combines discipline, leadership, and education to ensure athletes grow both on and off the field.
Expanding Across Southeast Asia
The launch of PSIA Miri marks a major milestone in Kamara’s mission to build world-class youth development networks throughout Southeast Asia.
The academy offers structured training in football and other sports while instilling core values such as teamwork, respect, leadership, and academic discipline.
Reflecting on the journey that began nearly two decades ago, Kamara highlighted the core motivation behind his expansion:
“I had a dream 18 years ago, and today I am living that dream. Nothing makes me happier than seeing young players progress into professional football and educational opportunities.
“This mission is bigger than me. I truly believe this is what I was called to do, and I will continue dedicating my life to helping young people achieve their full potential through sport.”
Dual Roles and African-Asian Football Bridge
Alongside his work with PSIA, Kamara currently serves as Technical Director of Indera SC, a professional football club in Brunei Darussalam, where he holds a 40 percent ownership stake.
In this role, he oversees the club’s technical direction, youth structure, coaching standards, and long-term strategy.
Kamara aims to build stronger football ties between Africa and Asia. One of his long-term goals is to create direct professional pipelines for talented Liberian footballers by offering international exposure, elite training environments, and recruitment pathways into professional clubs across Southeast Asia.
With the opening of PSIA Miri, Kamara continues to expand a global legacy focused on producing responsible leaders, opening educational doors, and transforming lives through the power of sport.
