Embassy of Liberia Hosts Ambassador Ana Irene Delgado for Discussions on Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Washington, D.C. — The Ambassador of the Republic of Liberia accredited to the US, His Excellency Dr. Al-Hassan Conteh had the distinct pleasure of welcoming Her Excellency Ana Irene Delgado, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Panama to the Organization of American States (OAS), for a fruitful discussion on strengthening bilateral relations between Liberia and Panama.

Ambassador Delgado, a highly accomplished Panamanian diplomat and lawyer, has previously served as Panama’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Italy, and as Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Currently, she occupies a significant role in addressing critical issues within international maritime security and multilateral diplomacy.

The discussions between the diplomats centered on various global opportunities aimed at enhancing cooperation between Liberia and Panama. Key areas of focus included strategies to strengthen trade relations, enhance maritime safety and security, explore mutual interests in open registries, and promote strategic partnerships in sectors vital to both nations.

“We reflected upon the shared maritime strengths that unite our countries, and these discussions are vital in advancing our mutual interests and in building a robust partnership between Liberia and Panama,” Dr. Conteh emphasized.

In addition to bilateral relations, the meeting touched upon broader foreign policy priorities and global challenges. As current non-Permanent Members of the United Nations Security Council, Liberia, and Panama recognized the importance of collaboration in addressing pressing international issues.

This high-level engagement reflects Liberia’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties and partnerships that benefit both countries and promote regional stability and development.
