ECOWAS Parliament Delocalized Meeting Starts in Liberia’s Capital on Monday

Monrovia – A week-long delocalized meeting of the ECOWAS parliament’ Joint Committee on Communication and Information Technology, Education, Science and Technology, Labor, Employment, Youth, Sports and Culture is expected to begin on Monday, August 27, 2018 on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.

The meeting will be held under the Theme “Contribution of ICTs to the Regional Integration Process – Status of Implementation, challenges and prospects of an ECOWAS Community Radio and Television Station”.

According to a release signed by the Director of Press and Public Affairs Bureau of the House of Representatives, Isaac G, Redd, Liberia’s Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor, the Honourable Speaker of the ECOWAS Parliament, His Excellency Moustapha Cissé Lo, House Speaker Dr. Bhofal Chambers, Special Representative of the President of ECOWAS Commission to Liberia Amb. Tunde O. Ajisomo and Foreign Affairs Minister Gbehzohngar Milton Findley are expected to grace the occasion.

An Overview on the Contribution of ICTs to the regional integration process will be done by Dr. Isaias Barreto Olimpio da Rosa, former ECOWAS Commissioner for Communications and Telecommunication while the head of Liberian delegation to ECOWAS parliament Bomi County Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe Jr. will deliver the welcoming statement.

Presentation on, “Maximizing Effective Audience Reach of an ECOWAS Community Radio in view of the diversified linguistic groupings of the Community and the proliferation of community radios and their local contents (Experience of the West African democracy Radio)” will be done by Mr. Malcom Joseph, Executive Director of Centre for Media Studies and Peace Building, Liberia.
