Bajaj Unveils New RE 236-4V Three-Wheeler Keke

MONROVIA– Bajaj Auto has launched its new RE 236-4V three-wheeler in Liberia, marking the Indian manufacturer’s latest push into West Africa and reinforcing trade ties between India and Liberia.

Silver Automobiles Limited, Bajaj’s sole distributor in Liberia, unveiled the model.

The company said the vehicle was designed to withstand Liberia’s tough road conditions and improve profitability for drivers.

Unveiling the  Bajaj, India’s Ambassador to Liberia, Manoj Bihari Verma, described the launch as evidence of Bajaj’s confidence in the Liberian market.

 “This is the third Bajaj event I have attended in Monrovia within the past year,” he said.

“Seeing this steady expansion of a renowned Indian brand makes me very happy. It demonstrates Bajaj’s confidence in Liberia and the growing economic and commercial partnership between India and Liberia.”

Verma said bilateral trade between the two countries has reached nearly $400 million annually.

Liberian exports to India rose from about $20 million to $45 million last year, a 120 percent increase.

He credited India’s Duty‑Free Tariff Preference Scheme for boosting Liberia’s access to Indian markets.

“Our partnership extends beyond trade,” he added.

“Indian companies are contributing to Liberia’s economy through investments in manufacturing, mining, agriculture, healthcare, retail, and other services.

 They are creating jobs, supporting entrepreneurship, and improving people’s daily lives.”

 Amb. Verma commended Liberia’s government for maintaining a business environment that encourages foreign investment.

He stressed that reliable transportation remains essential for economic development.

“Three‑wheelers provide affordable transportation, create livelihoods, support small businesses, and improve connectivity within communities,” he said.

Business owners purchased 10 of the new Bajaj tricycles. Varma congratulated the first ten owners of the new RE 236‑4V and wished them success.

 “They are not just buying vehicles; they are investing in their future and contributing to Liberia’s economic growth,” he said.

In his keynote address, Director of Dubai Auto Gallery, Vishal Lakhani, tied the launch to Bajaj Auto’s centenary.

“Liberia is very close to our hearts. That is why we have chosen Liberia as the first country in West Africa to launch the Bajaj RE 236‑4V. The product has not yet been introduced in Nigeria or any other West African market,” he stated.

Lakhani said Bajaj operates in more than 100 countries and continues to maintain market leadership in several international markets. He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to innovation.

 “Our promise is simple: more power, more distance, and more value,” he told customers.

Giving details of the technical specifications and operator Country Manager of Silver Automobiles, Abhai Srivastava said that RE 236‑4V features a 236cc four‑valve engine, the largest in its class, delivering higher torque, improved acceleration and better fuel efficiency.

  “The higher mileage means operators travel farther on less fuel, ultimately increasing their daily earnings,” he explained.

He stressed the model’s three promises. “More Power, More Distance, and More Earnings.”

The vehicle also includes a hand‑operated reverse gear, Integrated Starter Generator Silent Start technology, an additional centrifugal oil filter for longer engine life, and a 12‑month engine warranty.

Srivastava said the innovations were designed to reduce operating costs and extend durability.  

He added that it will continue to strengthen customer support through service centers in Sion Town, Red Light and Johnsonville.

The company distributes Bajaj motorcycles including the Boxer 100 HD, CT 125 and BM150, while its flagship Boxer BM125 HD remains one of Liberia’s leading commuter bikes.

Three‑wheelers have become an essential means of transportation in Liberia, providing livelihoods for thousands of drivers and affordable mobility for commuters.
