Monrovia — The Confiscation Unit of the Forestry Development Authority (FDA) with the aid of the Wildlife and Conservation Reporters Network have arrested a man for selling a Duiker (Baby Dear), one of the protected animals in Liberia.

On 8 February, the World Maritime University Alumni Association of Liberia (WMUAAL) presented a donation to the WMU Endowment Fund. The virtual event was hosted in cooperation between WMUAAL and the Swedish Embassy in Monrovia and brought together the majority of Liberian graduates. 

Monrovia — IRC Liberia has received a $17.8 million grant from USAID; the United States Agency for International Development to support the government of Liberia’s National Community Health Program. Approximately 29% of the Liberian population, and 60% of the rural population live more than 5km from a health facility. With a host of health challenges in the area including high incidence of Malaria, anemia and a lack of reproductive health services, this USAID funded program will enable IRC to support the Liberian Ministry of Health to meet the health needs of underserved populations in Bong and Lofa counties.

MONROVIA — Liberians hold gloomy views of the direction of the country, the country’s economic conditions, and their personal living conditions. But they are split on whether protests are an effective way to influence political leaders and policies, a new Afrobarometer survey shows.

Washington – U.S. President Joe Biden has announced that the United States intends to provide an initial $2 billion, out of a total planned $4 billion, to Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, to support the Gavi COVAX Advance Market Commitment (Gavi COVAX AMC) to provide COVID-19 vaccines for 92 low- and middle-income countries.  

Monrovia – With a reported death toll of more than one hundred thousand and more than three million reported cases, the African continent appears to be at the bottom of the pile of countries likely to receive vaccines for the deadly Coronavirus.

Monrovia — The Chairman of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Taskforce, Labour Minister, Cllr. Charles H. Gibson says the taskforce is working on regulations that will ensure punitive measures for people who are engaged in human trafficking and child labor.

GRAND KRU COUNTY — Grand Kru County Senior Senator and President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate-Senator Albert Tugbeh Chie has called on the Citizens of Grand Kru County to make themselves available to be counted in the County during the pending 2021 national census.
