GBARNGA, Bong County – The Environmental Protection Agency of Liberia (EPA) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) have intensified environmental awareness amidst daily reports and occurrences of environmental degradation and pollution across the country.

MONROVIA – The attention of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) has been drawn to persistent public concerns about the shortage of L$5 and L$10 on the economy, despite a series of radio programs organized by the CBL explaining the causes for the shortage and efforts by the Bank to address the situation.

MONROVIA – On Thursday, May 26, 2022, U.S. Ambassador Michael A. McCarthy in a handover event donated the Liberia Secure Radio Network (LSRN – also known as the Liberia Security Radio Network) to the Government of Liberia, represented by Minister of Justice, the Honorable Frank Musah Dean. MONROVIA – A delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, met deputy finance minister for fiscal affairs Dr. Samora P.Z. Wolokolie to discuss the process leading to Liberia’s transition from Goods and Service Tax (GST), to Value Added Tax (VAT).

MONROVIA — The Liberia Peacebuilding Office (PBO) on May 26 re-launched its Situation Room, an independent entity that monitors all 15 counties for signs of increasing tensions and potential violence in relation to COVID-19 and during campaigns and elections. The Situation Room is located at the ECOWAS compound in Monrovia.

NEW YORK – United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed a Liberian national and international law specialist, Mr. Cornelius Nagbe, to the UN Panel of Experts on Yemen, an investigative body of independent experts assisting the Security Council Committee established pursuant to resolution 2140 (2014) to implement its mandate, including on sanctions monitoring.

Malabo, Equatorial Guinea – President George Manneh Weah is urging the African Union (AU) to act as swiftly as possible to declare terrorism and unconstitutional changes of governments in Africa as “continental emergencies.”

MONROVIA – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) recently donated several pieces of critical testing equipment to the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) for its quality control laboratory to assure that all medicines and health products entering Liberia meet rigorous quality standards.
