The President of Liberia Football Association Upper Women’s League club (Senior Female Professionals), Emmett Glassco, says President Joseph N. Boakai needs to appoint someone with a vast knowledge of sports as Minister of Youth & Sports.
Glassco told journalists in Monrovia on Wednesday, while reflecting on former President George M. Weah performance in sports, that it is highly necessary for the sector to meaningfully thrive.
“Appointing someone who knows nothing about sports will worsen our problem and even make us go downward than the past government’’, Glassco said.
He said appointing “just anybody” to head the sports ministry would be like employing a carpenter to attend to patients in a hospital.
His statement comes in the wake of ongoing nomination of officials of government by president Joseph Boakai.
After taking over power on Monday at an event marking the successful inauguration ceremony that saw George Weah bid farewell to the Liberian Presidency, President Boakai on Tuesday kicked-off the nomination of people in his government.
