MONROVIA – The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has sentenced a 16-year-old boy, Jerry S. Tawo, to jail for allegedly stabbing his friend Shake Clinton to death. The incident occurred after a fight over a girl that Tawo claimed to be his girlfriend.

According to court documents, Tawo is a member of a dancing crew called Black Street. On April 30, 2023, Tawo and some members of the crew went to the Air Strips behind the Invincible Park, Wroto Town, Airfield, Monrovia, for a meeting and dancing practice.
After the meeting, Tawo remained with the girl he considered his girlfriend while other members of the Black Street crew got involved in different activities. It was during this time that Clinton, who lived a few minutes’ walk away, encountered the girl.
Clinton held onto the girl’s hand, which angered Tawo, leading to an argument and ultimately a fight. Tawo used a knife to stab Clinton multiple times on his left upper shoulder, causing him to bleed profusely and eventually leading to his death.
Tawo, who resides in Lakpazee, Airfield, Sinkor, admitted to the police that he killed his friend over the girl.
As a result, Tawo has been charged with murder, which is a non-bailable offense under Liberian law. He was immediately incarcerated at the Monrovia Central Prison on May 10, 2023, upon his arrival at the court.
