Open Letter to Justice Minister: What’s Immigration Status of Liberia’s First Lady?

The Liberian person understanding is that she registered and voted in Liberia in the 2017 election.

Hon/Cllr. F. Musa Dean
Justice Minister, Ministry of Justice
Republic of Liberia

Dear Hon. Minister:

May I use this opportunity to extend my sincere greetings to you and the family at the Ministry of Justice, Republic of Liberia. It is indeed a pleasure writing to you.

Hon. Minister, my name is Maxson Kpakio a Liberian residing in the United Kingdom, a journalist, and work for an online radio station, Radio Lib with it HQ in Maryland, USA and I manage and run its sub-station in the UK. I am a broadcaster, and radio talk show host with thousands of followers, Liberians and friends of Liberia.

For several months I have been seeing and hearing Liberian seeking a redress and or clarification on the immigration status of Mrs Clar Duncan-Weah, wife of the President of Liberia, H.E. George Weah. As an activist myself, I have been asking similar question using my social media platform.

In view of the above, coupled with the citizenship and nationality act of the Republic of Liberia, and mainly under the freedom of information act, Republic of Liberia, I write to seek an objective and clear cut clarifications on the immigration status of Mrs Clar Duncan-Weah.

The Liberian person understanding is that she registered and voted in Liberia in the 2017 election. Our understanding also is that she is an American by naturalization and a Jamaican by birth.

Such clarification which is through a publication of her naturalizations certificate will be a great help to the Liberian people and especially to one like me who is still asking.

Under the constitutional establishment, the Bureau of Immigration and Naturalization is directly under your leadership and in so doing, your office is the only one that can adequately address this matter and lay it to rest.

I will appreciate very kindly if your office can email us at Radio Lib copy of said naturalization certificate of Mrs Weah, as the freedom of information gives us the power to request for same. I look forward to hearing from you.

God bless our country.

M. Kpakio,
