VP Howard-Taylor Named ‘Literacy and Education Ambassador’

Monrovia – Liberia’s Vice President Hon. Jewel Howard-Taylor has been named as Literacy and Education Ambassador by ALFALIT Liberia.

ALFALIT Liberia is a member of ALFALIT International and has been operating in Liberia since 2006

According to a Press release from the office of the Vice president, the role of VP Howard-Taylor is to serve as the Champion for its Literacy Program across the country.

The program covers scholarships, training and other educational empowerment initiatives.

The Delegation of ALFALIT Liberia bestowed the honor on the Liberian Vice president recently during a meeting at her capitol building office.

The delegation in addition to the task, requested the Vice President to second   one of her staff who will work with ALFALIT in ensuring the educational programs are rolled out successfully.

VP Howard-Taylor in response to the task given her, graciously accepted to serve as “Literacy and Education Ambassador” and committed to work with the President, Minister of Education and other stakeholders to ensure that education which is   one of this Government’s priorities is actualized.

She commended the delegation for contributing to Liberia’s educational sector, highlighting education as a key pillar on the Pro-Poor Agenda of His Excellency President George Manneh Weah.

Madam Vice President recounted her interest in education since age 5 and has always been passionate about educating and empowering people, especially women.

The Vice President stressed the need for the Literacy Program to go beyond teaching and skills development by   transforming the minds and attitudes of beneficiaries.
