AccessBank Liberia Launches MoneyGram Service

Monrovia – AccessBank Liberia (ABL) has officially out doored Money Gram remittance services to the public and their valued customers.

This was marked with a press launch at the Banks headquarters in Sinkor.

The event was graced by senior managers of the Bank and officials of Money Gram responsible for Anglophone West Africa and the press.

Addressing the press, the CEO of AccessBank Mr. Jonas Nyaye used the opportunity to thank Liberians for the support given the bank and also gave some insight on the background of the bank and what they have been doing.

He said to clear the assertion of most people AccessBank is an international bank with a very strong backing.

AccessBank (Liberia) Limited is part of AccesssHolding AG, a Berlin-based holding company, which operates a network of commercial banks in developing and transitioning countries with a target group focus on MSMEs.

AccesssHolding provided most of the seed capital to ABL. AccesssHolding currently holds a 55% stake in ABL.

Other shareholders of AccessBank (Liberia) include the International Finance Corporation (IFC) with 19%, the African Development Bank (AfDB), with 14%, and the European Investment Bank (EIB) with 13%.

After receiving its formal banking license in 2009 and meeting the minimum capital required by Central Bank of Liberia, ABL opened its first office in Central Monrovia.

Since then the bank has not looked back. ABL expanded to have seven full branches, including one in Grand Bassa County, Buchanan. Six of the branches are located in Monrovia

He made it clear that AccessBank is the first Commercial Bank in Liberia to have focused on banking the micro, small and medium small-sized businesses in the country by lending to that segment of the market.

He called on the general public especially businesses of all kinds, Small, Medium and Large Scale Enterprises to come and do business with AccessBank as the bank has the system to effectively provide quality banking services all segments of the market.

He used the occasion to thank the Executive Governor and the leadership of the Central Bank of Liberia for their immense support and dedication to enhancing the effectiveness of financial sector of the Country.

In his keynote address the Regional Manager for Anglophone West Africa Mr. Patrick A. Appiah was full of praise for the good work AccessBank is doing in the country.

He said the partnership they have signed with AccessBank Liberia was as a result of the commitment they have shown over the short period of time in the country and also the rate at which the Bank is growing.

In his parting comments he said they have no doubt that AccessBank Liberia will deliver good results.

He also used the opportunity to encourage the public to take advantage of the excellent service that awaits them.
