MONROVIA – One of Liberia’s premier banking institutions, AccessBank-Liberia on Friday, October 4, 2019 made a donation to the Muslim community in Liberia as their way of consoling them for the loss of students who left in a fire disaster.
It can be recalled flames swept a boarding school early Wednesday in the West African country of Liberia, killing at least 28 children and trapping others in the rubble.
The students were sleeping in a dormitory attached to a mosque when an electrical issue is suspected to have sparked the fire, a police spokesman said.
The incident occurred in the Red Community, in Paynesville City, a suburb of the Liberian capital, Monrovia.
The victims are said to be boys ages 10 to 20 who were studying the Holy Quran.
The bank gave bags of rice, oil, cartoon of soaps, bleach among many others.
“The management of AccessBank-Liberia regrets deeply your last incident, we thought to come here share and sit with you to let you know that we are very sorry. Though our coming here cannot replace your lost, its show that we are in sympathy with you,” Nah Chea, Branch Manager noted.
Mr. Chea said: “Our prayers go out to the families of the children that died last month; as a result of a fire that engulfed their school building, we know it is very difficult to take as families, but God knows why,”
Also speaking, the head of administration, Accessbank-Liberia, James Howard said, the bank is there for all Liberians regardless of the situation, for this, he said it was saddening to see many young Liberians to have died in such pain.
He urged the families and the Muslims community to take solace into the almighty Allah.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the United Dawah Ummah, Bela Diallo commended the Management of Accessbank for identifying with them during a period of bereavement.
“We like to appreciate Accessbank for sympathizing with us, we understand how they feel our sorrows, this bank is noted for coming to the need of Liberians, we applaud you for that,” he said.
