Monrovia – “Knock-Foot” a popular Liberian game being played by our BridgePSL during recess at Kendeja Public School.
After a rough start when Bridge International Academies came to Liberia to operate Bridge Partnership Schools for Liberia and many months later, students in Bridge’s schools are upbeat about their 1st marking period test which starts today.
It is recess at the Kendeja Public School, and like any campus, smiles and screams of laughter can be heard.
The Kendeja Public School is one of 24 schools operated by Bridge Partnership Schools for Liberia, a subsidiary of Bridge International Academies.
Shining brightly in their sky blue uniforms, students made sure to fully utilize their favorite past time in school with games of all sorts. In grade 6, Wokie Morris, 13, and her friends are delving in their books.
Smiling from ear to ear, Wokie says she and her friends are going to earn high marks in the tests, adding that her favorite subject is English. Gleefully, she asserts that she will settle for 100% passing score, adding that anything less than that would be 98. A high achiever she surely is!
“This year education is different from last year education.
The time Bridge wasn’t here, we never had books and tablets to read from. Last year, the only science book we used to see from the MOE but this year we see plenty books on the table.”
As Wokie goes back to her lessons amid the recess, her classmate Margaret S. Kettor says she too is ready as her favorite subject is English.
“I like English because sometimes [we who] attend school, don’t know how to write friendly letter – our teacher can teach us how to write friendly letter.”
Even their teacher, Moses J. Yarkpazuo is confident of his students’ ability to perform excellently. “I’m sure they are going to pass, my students are smart.”
