Monrovia – Monrovia City Court Judge, J. Kennedy Peabody recently ordered the arrest of John Saah, Deputy Chief of Public Safety of the Liberia National Police and others for allegedly brutalizing a junior officer of the Liberia National Police Transactional Crime Unit in March of 2018.

John Saah, Kais Sampson, Chris Doe and Rodney Macauley were arrested and forwarded to the Monrovia City Court for allegedly assaulting Inspector Mark T. Kardamie of the Liberia National Police Transactional Crime Unit (TCU) in Monrovia on March 26, 2018.
According to the Writ of Arrest, Inspector Kardamie was allegedly flogged by John Saah of the public safety division of LNP along with Sup. Kais Samson of the Major Crime Unit of the LNP, and Chris Doe and Rodney Macaulay in March of this year.
The Writ of Arrest further detail that the defendants, with wicked intent to cause private prosecutor (Mark T. Kardamie) serious bodily injury, beat and inflicted pains and wounds on his head resulting him to bleed profusely.
“The alleged act of the defendants being unlawful, wicked and intentional is in violation of section 14.20 of the new Penal Law of Liberia,” the Writ added.
Section 14.20 of the New Penal Law of Liberia states: “A person is guilty of aggravated assault if he causes serious bodily injury to another purposely, knowingly, or recklessly; or Purposely or knowingly causes bodily injury to another with a deadly weapon.”
According to the New Penal Law of Liberia, aggravated assault is a second-degree felony.
Following the Writ of Arrest, the defendants were released by the presiding judge of the court, Associate Magistrate Eric N. Cooper on section 13.5 of the new penal law of Liberia to file in a proper bond.
But up to present, the defendants are yet to appear before the court to answer to the crime of aggravated assault.
At the same time, Magistrate Cooper has issued a notice of assignment to inform both parties (Plaintiff and defendants) or their legal counsels to appear before the Monrovia City Court on June 28 at 11:00 am for the hearing of the case.
