New York – The Republic of Liberia has called on Kosovo and Serbia to engage constructively and avoid unilateral actions that could heighten tensions.
During the UN Security Council briefing on UNMIK (KOSOVO) Tuesday, October 20, 2026, the Permanent Representative of Liberia to the United Nations, H.E. Ambassador Lewis G. Brown, II, underlined the importance of the 2023 Agreement on the Path to Normalization and its implementation annex, providing a framework for moving forward.
“With European Union facilitation, the parties should identify achievable next steps and clear implementation milestones.
People need to see that dialogue delivers in their access to services, their confidence in justice, and their ability to participate safely in public life,” he said.
Commenting on the issue of missing persons, he encouraged authorities to strengthen cooperation, share information, support identification efforts, and provide families with timely, reliable information.
Ambassador Brown said Liberia supports its continued contribution to stability and confidence-building in close coordination with the European Union and other international partners.
He urged Belgrade and Pristina to exercise restraint, deliver on their commitments, and place the welfare and security of their populations at the center of their decisions.
Liberia stands ready to support constructive efforts toward a peaceful settlement between both parties.
