LFA Orange Cup: Shaita Angels, World Girls Renew Rivalry in SKD Showdown

The fixture rekindles one of the most intriguing rivalries in Liberian women’s football, with both clubs sharing a history of high-stakes encounters in recent editions of the country’s knockout competition.

For Shaita Angels, the match presents an immediate opportunity to shift focus from the heartbreak of missing out on the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Upper Women’s League title.

A goalless draw against Determine Girls in the final round of the league handed the championship to the defending champions, leaving the Angels as runners-up.

Despite that disappointment, the Angels remain one of the country’s most competitive women’s sides and are eager to keep their season alive by mounting a serious title challenge in the cup.

Shaita Angels have previously tasted cup success against World Girls, having defeated them 4-3 on penalties to lift the 2023/2024 Orange Cup Women’s title following a dramatic draw in the final.

However, World Girls have enjoyed more recent success in this knockout fixture.

During the 2024/2025 Orange Cup semifinal second leg, World Girls recorded an emphatic victory over the Angels to advance to the final.

Though they reached the showcase match, World Girls were ultimately defeated 3-0 by Determine Girls, who claimed the cup crown.

Tuesday’s encounter carries added significance for both sides, with Shaita Angels seeking redemption and World Girls looking to assert their recent dominance in this fixture.

With pride, revenge, and tournament progression on the line, local football enthusiasts can expect a thrilling battle between two sides that have consistently shaped the landscape of the local women’s game.

Kick-off is scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the SKD practice pitch.
