Sanniquellie, Nimba County — As Muslims in Nimba County and around the world marked Ibrahim (Abraham) Day, Nimba County Superintendent Kou Meapeah Gono joined Muslims in Sanniquellie in celebration by donating one cow and ten bags of rice (25 kg each) to local Muslim leaders and families in Sanniquellie to support their festivities.

Supt. Gono used the occasion to pledge the continued support of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung and the Nimba County administration toward unity, peace and mutual respect for Muslims across the country.
In a message delivered to worshippers and community members, she extended warm greetings to Muslims everywhere, with special recognition for Liberian alongside with Nimba County Muslims observing the holy day.
“We reflect on Abraham (Ibrahim’s) commitment, faith and sacrifice,” Supt. Gono said, paying tribute to the Prophet Abraham’s example of devotion and obedience.
“His willingness to sacrifice for God reminds us of the values of faith, unity and service that should guide both our personal lives and public duties.”
The superintendent emphasized that the county stands firmly with Muslim communities during their religious observances and called on residents to uphold unity and discipline.
“We are one people,” her statement said. “In life we must be obedient and orderly, and when called to serve, we must do so for our country.”
Speaking on behalf of the county leadership, Supt. Gono conveyed greetings from the President and the Vice President and other senior officials.
“On behalf of His Excellency President Joseph Boakai, Vice President Jeremiah Koung and the Nimba County administration, we say thank you, welcome and we recognize this special day,” she stated.
Supt. Gono also reaffirmed a commitment to ongoing support for the Muslim community beyond the holiday.
She pledged that the County administration, working with the national government, will continue to provide material assistance for community celebrations and to support programs that strengthen social cohesion.
That support, she said, will include periodic donations for major religious events, engagement with Muslim leaders to identify community needs and cooperation on initiatives that promote peace, education and economic empowerment for residents of all faiths.
Muslim leaders welcomed the gesture and expressed appreciation for the county’s visible support during important religious occasions.
They said donations such as the cow and rice help families celebrate with dignity and reinforce communal bonds during festivals.
The message also acknowledged the recent end of Ramadan and highlighted the importance of family and community ties during religious observance.
Officials urged continued understanding and solidarity across communities, noting that some people may not always appreciate the significance of these moments.
The County administration concluded by reaffirming its support for Muslim residents and promising to work with religious and community leaders to ensure that future celebrations proceed peacefully and with adequate support.
