Liberia: Jeety Urges Indians, Lebanese to Invest in Industry Sector to Boost Jobs for Liberians

Renowned Indian Businessman and Philanthropist Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva

Monrovia – Renowned Indian businessman and philanthropist Dr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva, widely known as Jeety, is urging his fellow Indians and Lebanese in Liberia to shift their focus from trading to the industrial sector — a move he believes will create more jobs for Liberians and boost the national economy.

Speaking at the reopening of the Exclusive Super Store on 19th Street, Sinkor, on Monday, July 21, 2025, Jeety emphasized that Liberia’s development hinges on growth in both the industrial and agricultural sectors.

“The industry can create more jobs — not just trading. We must begin transforming into small-scale industries,” he said. “If we want the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to grow, we need to move into the industrial sector. Industry plus agriculture is what develops a country.”

Jeety, owner of Jeety Rubber LLC in Weala, Margibi County, commended T. Choithram & Sons (Liberia) Inc. for modernizing and reopening the Exclusive Super Store. He praised the company’s continued investment in Liberia’s economy.

Also speaking at the event, Liberia’s Minister of Commerce and Industry, Magdalene E. Dagoseh, hailed the reopening of the Exclusive Super Store as a milestone for the country’s retail sector and commercial environment.

“On behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, I extend heartfelt congratulations to the management and staff of the TCS Group,” Minister Dagoseh said. “Your dedication to excellence, resilience through challenging times, and continued investment in Liberia are commendable and deeply appreciated.”

Minister Dagoseh added that the reopening represents more than the return of a retail outlet — it signifies renewed confidence in the Liberian economy and a strong contribution to national development through job creation, improved access to quality goods, and support for local enterprises.

“The private sector plays a vital role in driving economic growth,” she noted. “Enterprises like the Exclusive Super Store not only generate employment but also strengthen supply chains and stimulate local entrepreneurship, especially through partnerships with Liberian SMEs.”

She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for businesses to grow, compete, and thrive alongside international partners.

“We are working diligently to ensure Liberian-owned SMEs receive access to markets, finance, capacity-building, and regulatory support to compete effectively,” she added.

Chirag M. Ramani, Manager of T. Choithram & Sons (Liberia) Inc., expressed gratitude to attendees and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to serving the Liberian people and supporting the government’s efforts to improve the trade sector.
