Monrovia – The Liberia Volleyball Federation (LVF) elective congress, scheduled for Thursday, February 27, 2025, in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County, was abruptly halted after a group of angry stakeholders stormed the venue and disrupted the event.

The congress, which was supposed to elect new leadership for the LVF, was abandoned after several volleyball club presidents entered the hall and caused chaos.
The stakeholders, led by aggrieved club owners, accused LVF President Otis Nyanneh of attempting to conduct a secret election.
The group had previously voted no confidence in Nyanneh’s leadership earlier in the week and called on the Liberia National Olympic Committee (LNOC) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to stop the congress.
They claimed Nyanneh had violated the LVF constitution and demanded an ad hoc team to oversee the congress, citing that Nyanneh’s term had expired last year and he was seeking re-election.
The disruption attracted the attention of former LNOC President Philibert Brown, who was in Buchanan. After intervention from Brown, both sides agreed to a 90-day timeline to review and amend the LVF constitution before organizing a new election.
Nyanneh, in response to the incident, stated he would issue an official statement on the matter.
