The Rollers’ start to the season has been challenging with poor results, which resulted in the sacking of their coach Christian Mend, who was replaced with Sekou Manubah to improve the team’s position, which is currently at the bottom of the 14-team log.
But Sekou Manubah and Barrolle Sports finally broke through with their first win of the season, as they pulled a hard-fought 1-0 win over Shaita FC.
Baarrolle’s victory came after four defeats and a frustrating draw. Despite sitting at the bottom of the league table with just 4 points from 6 games, the team’s performance on the day was nothing short of inspiring.
The match saw Mighty Barrolle face off against newly promoted Shaita FC who appeared to be a tough opponent, but the Rollers showed great determination from the very first start of the match.
The first half was a tense one, with both sides creating chances, but were unable to find the back of the net.
However, Mighty Barrolle’s resilience paid off in the second half, as they utilized their opportunity with a cool finish that added smiles on the faces of Rollers fans.
The lone goal was a testament to the hard work and dedication the team had put in during their difficult run. It came in the first half, following a beautifully executed counter attack that left Shaita FC scrambling.
Barrolle came under pressure but their defense worked tirelessly to protect their slim lead.
Both teams entertained the fans with classical football, but it was just the lone goal from Barrolle that separated the two sides as the final whistle was met with cheers from Rollers fans who had been waiting for such a moment since the season began.
Barrolle’s victory was not just about the three points; it was about the belief and the fight the team had shown, proving that they were capable of more, despite their early struggles.
Despite their win, the club still sit at the bottom of the league table.
Sekou Manubah, the new Barrolle coach, said winning Shaita was a crucial step forward for his team. He said they are now looking to improve in their next game as the season progresses.
“Today’s result has lifted our spirit to go on to win the next game, and the one after. We are not taking it one game at the time but we are not a team to overlook” Sekou said.
