LRRRC Begins Disbursement of Reintegration Cash Benefits To Liberian Returnees

During the payment, family heads received 300 hundred united states dollars while their dependents receive 225 united states dollar each.

Monrovia – Liberia Executive Director of the Refugees Repatriation and Resettlement Commission (LRRRC) Patrick Wozie over the weekend disclosed that 469 out of the 1539 returnees brought back home by LRRRChave begun to receive their benefit.

The payment started on Saturday September 14, 2024 at the Johnsonville Transit Center near Monrovia. According to him, the 469 returnees to benefit are those who didn’t receive reintegration cash benefits during the 1st phase of disbursement in July. 

The disbursement of reintegration cash package to the remaining batch of 469 of the 1539 Liberian returnees include family heads and dependents. During the payment, family heads received 300 hundred united states dollars while their dependents receive 225 united states dollar each.

The process which has begun in Montserrado is expected to extend to other Countries including Grand Bassa, Bong and Nimba counties respectively.  LRRRC boss Patrick Worzie noted that at the end of the process, a comprehensive report will be submitted to relevant authorities and subsequently to the media.

The Commission has been working along with line ministries to include the Ministry of Finance to ensure a successful reintegration of Liberians who have come back home to contribute their own Cota to national development.

Between May and June 2024 as part of the government commitments to bring back home citizens who have been seeking refuge in Ghana since the start of the civil war which ended in 2003 the government of Liberia repatriated 1,539 following demolition of the Buduburam camp. 

It can be recalled that the Ghanaian Authorities requested the Liberian government, giving a 30-day ultimatum to repatriate it citizens.

Meanwhile, Mr. Worzie thanked partners, stakeholders, the LRRRC Board, the ministry of Foreign Affairs and other supporting partners for the level of support given the LRRRC family in the process.
