MONROVIA – At least 44 qualified young Liberians interested in Cooperative Management Course, are being recruited to study in India.
The recruitment began on September 4 and will end on November 25, 2018.
This was revealed by the chairperson of the Grassroots Women Agricultural Multipurpose Cooperative Society, Madam Marie H. Flomo, in an interview recently.
The Grassroots Women Agricultural Multipurpose Cooperative Society is located at Neezoe Junction in Paynesville, Monrovia.
Madam Flomo said the organization has awarded 44th scholarships for young Liberians to attend cooperative management courses in India as well as Diploma in Cooperative Banking Management, Diploma in Rural Management and Diploma in Computer Application.
She said the duration of the courses are as follows: Diploma in Cooperative Banking Management (three months), Diploma in Computer Application (six months), Diploma in Cooperative Management (nine months) and Diploma in Rural Management (one year).
Madam Flomo said the organization was established October 2010 and was intended to discourage the women of Liberia from depending solely on their male counterparts for sustainability.
She emphasized that the objective of the women’s group is to train less privileged women and get them involved in cash crops production which will enable them to do away with the dependency syndrome. She added that five of the 15 counties in Liberia are currently benefiting from an 18-month cocoa production.
She named the beneficiary counties as Gbarpolu, Bong, Bomi, Bassa, and Lofa. Madam Flomo said due to the work and honesty of the women, the organization has gained partnership with Global Cocoa Groups, India Private Limited.
Madam Flomo called on Liberians to take advantage of the opportunity to prepare themselves for the challenges ahead as it could benefit them and others.
