Monrovia-Liberian Youngster Divine Teah has been recognize by international media the Guardian Newspaper for his excellent performance with the national team of Liberia and his club Nimba FC.
The wonder kid who has proven to be a star for the future in September of 2023 got the consolation goal for Liberia Lone Star in a friendly match against Ghana who won the game 3-1,
The attacking midfielder has meanwhile caught the attention of many scouts around the world but most notably he has been named among The Guardian’s Next Generation 2023 for best young talents.
According to the London base newspaper Divine Teah who came through the youth system of Massa Football Academy in Liberia has the potential to be one of the players in years to come that will light the world of football.
Guardian Newspaper named the 17 years old among 60 players from around the world they believe will replace the current generation of footballers at both club and country level.
The Guardian, a British daily newspaper that identifies the best young talent coming through around the world every year also follow their progress with an annual update.
Teah is breaking almost every record in Liberia’s football books with his constant called up to the national team at such young age and not playing in the top division.
In September 2021, he made history when he received a call-up to join the Liberian national team when he was just 15 years and five months of age.
He became Liberia’s youngest goal scorer against Burundi on 29 March 2022, when he was just 15 years and 347 days old.
The left-footed midfielder, who plays as an attacking midfield, a number ten or as a winger since making his debut for the national team has made five appearances for the Lone Stars has two goals for Liberia with the most recent goal coming last month against Ghana in a friendly match.
Teah who also has good eyes for goal and a great ability of passing and shooting is still under 18 years of age and has been monitored by some of European clubs including Italian side AC Milan but can’t not make a move until he is 18 years of age before he can legally transfer to a European club.
Meanwhile in August of 2023 Nimba FC emphatically stated that their standout player, Divine Roosevelt Teah, was not available for transfer despite considerable attention from prominent clubs within Liberia.
Reports suggest that the young talent was inclined towards playing in the top-tier league as opposed to remaining in the second division, where he could potentially contend for the MPV award. However, Nimba FC remained steadfast in its decision to retain him, dismissing notion of a local transfer.
Nimba FC’s Chief Administrator, Ike Moore, refuted the speculations, affirming Teah’s continued stay with the club. Moore praised Teah’s contribution to the squad and emphasized his positive conduct during his time with Nimba FC.
Addressing the matter of Teah’s future, Moore clarified that the player has an existing contract with Swedish team Hammarby IF, which stipulates that Teah will await his 18th birthday before making a move to Europe.
The arrangement between Hammarby IF and Nimba FC solidifies Teah’s commitment to remain at Nimba FC until he becomes eligible to travel abroad.
Moore reiterated that Divine Teah’s contractual ties with Hammarby IF preclude any negotiations for his sale.
Teah who played for one of Liberia’s most decorated club BYC is currently with the national team of Liberia in Morocco for a friendly match with Libya and the African Cup of nations qualifier.
Liberia will play Libya on October 14, 2023 and Morocco in the AFCON qualifier on October 17, 2023.
