Liberia lost to Uganda in the final of the Scrabble category at the All African Games in Accra, Ghana.
Having defeated Uganda in the Group Stage, Liberia lost in the first two rounds of the grand final to take home the Silver medal.
Liberia finished top of a round-robin group of eight countries before edging out Team Kenya in the semi-final.
Uganda, for their part, defeated world giants Nigeria to make it to the Grand final.
Team Liberia was led by Lemuel Gibson who recently won the National Scrabble Championsship.
Malek Sheriff and Roland Boykai who is the second best Scrabble player in Liberia currently made up the country’s 3-man team.
This is the first time Scrabble was included as part of the sporting disciplines at the All African Games.
The Liberian delegation included the President of the National Scrabble Association of Liberia (NASAL), Lester Morris, and Vice President Joseph Avery.
Others include Alvin Roberts Vasco Garwo, Abraham Kollie, Jonathan Wesley and Gabriel Potter.
