Karyah, told journalists that the initiative is aim at attracting the attention of sponsors nationwide.
According to him, government alone cannot develop the sport and underscored the need for corporate sponsorship.
“We want to take Chees to schools; that is the only way we can generate the numbers that corporate sponsors require bankrolling the sport.
“We have a strategy known as ‘Chess in School “; we want to introduce the game to over 50 children in each school across Montserrado County.
“Every school will produce male and female in an effort to train them how to play the sport”
“If we achieve that, corporate sponsors will be interested in financially supporting the sport, because there is a ready market to explore,’’ he said.
He said the training would begin in very soon when the needed supports are given.
The president also said that the federation would undertake the pilot stage after which the idea would be sold to sponsors to organize more programs for young people wanting to play chess.
