Monrovia – The LFA has embarked on a two-day Beginners’ Workshop for Match Commissioners at its HQ in Congo Town today as part of some of the responsibilities in the contract of agreed objectives signed by and between it and FIFA to promote football.
Speaking at the declaration of the workshop, LFA President Mustapha Raji said the occasion marks a “new beginning” in the department of Match Commissioning. ‘’Today marks a new beginning of our Match Commissioning program, especially bringing together lots of professionals with a combined goal as FIFA and LFA strive to increase participation in football to help support its development,” Raji noted.
Raji also challenged participants to have some basic computer skills, which he said will make them an effective Match Commissioner because the system has changed from paper-based reporting to digital reporting. “Another aspect is transitioning from paper-based reporting to digital reporting following the launch of the LFA Connect System in 2020, which makes reporting easier for each and every one. “Without computer knowledge or computer skills, one can’t be a match commissioner,” Raji concluded. LFA Match Commissioner Coordinator Cllr. Izetta Wesley, Deputy Sports Minister Andy Quamie, LFA Competition Manager Joel Freeman, and former FIFA referee Alex Nagbe will serve as the facilitators over the next two days. The program will entail lecture series on the introduction/overview, report writing (FIFA Connect), laws of the game and match coordination meeting.
