MONROVIA — The National Elections Commission (NEC) has announced an extension of the biometric voter registration hours in Phase One which comprises six counties.
The exercise which starts at 8 AM and ends at 5 PM daily will now end at 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday, 8th and 9th April 2023, in Bomi, Gbarpolu, Grand Bassa, Grand Cape Mount, Margibi, and Montserrado Counties.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the NEC said the decision was made to allow Liberians who are 18 years and above and already in the queue at 5 PM to continue their registration up to 7 PM on both Saturday and Sunday. The commission also confirmed that allowances will be provided to all Temporary Field Staff at the Registration Centers for the extra hours worked on the two days.
The statement read, “The approval of the additional hours to the Biometric Voter Registration time targets Liberian 18 years and above who would already be in the queue at 5 PM, to be allowed to continue their registration up to 7 PM on Saturday 8th April and Sunday 9th April 2023.”
The public has been informed that the biometric voter registration exercise in the six counties in phase one will end on Sunday, 9th April 2023, at 7 PM. The NEC urges all eligible voters to take advantage of the extension and register to vote in the upcoming elections
