MONROVIA – The maid of a woman who allegedly stabbed her boyfriend to death has told a jury that she tried several times to stop the couple from fighting but they refused to listen.

Cecelia Barclay, who took the witness stand on Monday at the Temple of Justice, told the jury she worked for defendant Johnette Pinky Abu and the deceased Morris Johnson for more than two years at their Thinker’s village home.
Explained Barclay: “That evening the both of them went to town, when they returned, they told me that I should stay at the house with the baby because they were going out of which I agreed.”
They left for an outing and later returned at night; it was defendant Pinky who knocked the door followed by Morris who knocked separately, she explained.
According to her, the deceased told Pinky that they should go to his house but she (Pinky) refused on grounds that whenever they go anywhere, he usually makes her shame.
“Then Morris decided to sleep at the house but Pinky told him not to sleep in her room which he agreed to sleep in the living room. Pinky took a pillow and threw it on Morris in the living room and closed her room and locked it.”
“The both of them were exchanging words, it was when she opened her room door and started to pull Morris and insisted that he should get outside.”
“During that time, I told Pinky to forget about Morris but she refused by saying no. It was then I took the baby and put her on my back, Pinky continued hauling Morris to get outside of the house but Morris refused to get outside and she left him and turned her back.”
She added that at that point the deceased grabbed Pinky, knocked her down and started beating on her.
“I was unable to part them [so] I started to cry. I told my daughter Naomi to go and call Pinky’s friend. The friend came into the house and talked to them and got tired, I was in the hallway crying up and down,” she said.
When the friend too attempted stopping them to no avail, she left the house to call for more help. Within that time, the maid said, Morris begun crying out that he had been stabbed by Pinky.
Pinky was also injured but Morris was bleeding profusely, she said.
“But Pinky said that she didn’t care. Her friends took Morris from upstairs and brought him downstairs where I was just crying.”
According to her, she did not see Pinky stabbed Morris because she was in the hallway, adding that it was the first time she saw the couple argued and fought.
“All that I have said here today I depend on no one but God and this is human being business. She took me as a mother and I took her as a mother. I have promised to take care of the baby until the case is finished with,” she said.
