Arena Recreation Academy School of Excellence has launched its “Let’s Educate a Child” Fundraiser and Partnership Program to expand access to education for underprivileged children.
According to the school administration, the initiative is designed to enroll children who are unable to attend school due to financial hardship and to provide them with regular nutritious meals to encourage school attendance, improve learning outcomes, and promote the overall well-being of every child.
Speaking at the launch recently, the school’s Vision Bearer and Proprietress, Pastor Deborah N. Togar, said the initiative was inspired by a divine calling to educate and empower Liberia’s future leaders, particularly children from disadvantaged communities. She noted that despite limited resources, the school has continued to provide free tuition and educational opportunities for hundreds of vulnerable children.
According to her, the school was established in 2018 as a small study class, and Arena Recreation Academy has since grown into a full elementary and semi-junior high school offering free education and a daily feeding program to more than 150 students in the Tyre-Shop Lower Virginia community and surrounding areas.
Pastor Togar further revealed that the feeding program was initially suspended because of financial challenges but was revived during the just-ended academic year through the support of the Hope of a Million Project Foundation, with assistance from the Commissioner of Oldest Congo Town Township, Hon. Edward Horton Lahai.
She, at the same time, called on philanthropists, corporate institutions, humanitarian organizations, and well-meaning Liberians to partner with the school, describing education as one of the greatest investments in Liberia’s future.
Pastor Togar also thanked individuals and organizations whose continued financial and material support has helped sustain the school’s mission of ensuring that no child is denied an education because of poverty.
The Arena Recreation Academy School of Excellence is located in the Tyre-Shop Community, Lower Virginia, District #17, Montserrado County, and remains steadfast in its mission to ensure that every child, regardless of financial circumstances, has access to quality education, daily nourishment, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
According to Whinell Togar Sasha, School’s administrator says accountability and measurable impact are central to the school’s approach.
“We evaluate success using clearly defined performance indicators, including: Student Learning, Teaching Quality, Institutional Growth and Financial Accountability that will ensure that every contribution translates into measurable educational benefits for the children we serve.”
She says when one supports the school, they are not simply funding a school— “You are helping a child stay in the school, empowering dedicated teachers, strengthening families, and contributing to the development of Liberia. Every dollar invested creates opportunities that can change a child’s life and positively impact an entire community.”
