On Tuesday, April 8, 2025, the body of a 45-year-old man, identified as Papie Darlor, a commercial motorcyclist popularly known as “50-50,” was found with ropes tied around his body.
The body was discovered placed in a bed and transported on a motorbike to an undisclosed location around 6:20 AM. Darlor, a Guinean national and father of four, had his own motorbike taken away, with an old motorbike used to transport his remains, FrontPageAfrica has gathered.
This incident brings the total number of mysterious deaths in Ganta to five, with four of the victims being motorcyclists and one a private security guard. The security guard was found dead while guarding a business facility near the City Mayor’s office.
In recent weeks, two motorcyclists were found dead in Gbahn Town on the Ganta-Saclepea Highway, District 8, while another, identified as 25-year-old Richard Gramie Gaye, was discovered near Zokerseh, a government-run school building. Gaye’s body was found under a rock near the school, which belongs to a local businessman.
The rising number of unexplained deaths has left Ganta’s residents fearful, with many linking the deaths to increased criminal activity around election periods. “The growing number of deaths, especially among motorcyclists, is causing panic in our community,” said one local resident.
In addition to the deaths, there have been rising concerns over the activities of armed men in several districts, including 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, as well as surrounding towns and villages, such as Bahn City. These areas have become increasingly unsafe for both residents and schoolchildren.
Ganta City Mayor, Samuel Saye Hardt, has urged residents to remain calm despite the fear gripping the city. He also called on local and national security forces to thoroughly investigate the mysterious deaths and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of Ganta’s citizens. “We cannot allow fear to take over. We need answers, and we need them quickly,” Mayor Hardt stated.
