Monrovia – On June 16 the Kids’ Educational Engagement Project (KEEP) joined thousands of other organizations and people around Africa to celebrate the Day of the African Child in commemoration of children who were killed in South Africa in 1976 in demand for their right to be taught in their own language and protesting the poor quality of their education.  The day is also used to raise awareness on the ongoing need for improvement of the education provided to children across Africa.

Monrovia  –  President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf on Friday, June 17, 2016 received the New President of the ECOWAS Commission, H.E. Marcel Alain DE Souza at her Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia. The two ECOWAS Officials met behind closed door, followed by a meeting that involved officials from both sides.

Monrovia- Since report of an alleged rape at the John F. Kennedy Hospital emerged about a week ago, where the hospital authorities turned over the suspect to the Liberian National Police, the police is yet to issue an official statement on the outcome of its preliminary investigation.

Monrovia – The special taskforce set-up by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf to investigate and prosecute those named in the Global Witness report on allegations of bribery has said it will not investigate her.

Monrovia-On Tuesday of last week, Mr. Emmanuel Lomax’s, the  man who headed the Friends of Urey, a group seeking to ensure the election of Benoni Urey as the next President of Liberia, relationship  turned sour with the parties separating through harsh word of words.

Monrovia-Vice President Joseph Boakai says overall perception on the openness of the public procurement system has improved significantly from 2013-2016. The vice president’s statement follows findings from the Procurement Client Perception Survey 2013-2016, by the Public Procurement and Concession Commission. The survey was aimed at obtaining feedback on the implementation of the amended and restated PPCC Act.
