MONROVIA – Liberians will no longer need to travel to Cote d’Ivore only to get a France short-stay visa. Terrance Wills, French Ambassador in Liberia announced the news during the celebration of France’s 230th Bastille Anniversary in Monrovia, on July 14.

MONROVIA – First Lady Clar Marie Weah has described as troubling and alarming the increasing cases of rape and other forms of violence against women and girls across Liberia, several of such incidents resulting in the death of victims.

Monrovia – The World Bank Country Director for Liberia, Mr. Pierre Frank Laporte, arrives in Liberia on Thursday, July 18, for a three-day official visit. During this visit, he will be exploring avenues to further deepen dialogue between the Bank and various Liberian stakeholders, as well as opportunities to promote growth and economic diversification. Mr. Laporte will visit project sites.

MONROVIA – Three nominees who were recently confirmed by the Liberian Senate as members of the CBL Board of Governors took the Oath of Fidelity and Secrecy today in CBL’s Board Room and pledged to work to restore the Bank’s independence and credibility. Windsor, Ontario, Canada – The Federation of Liberian Associations in Canada (FLAC) is set to host its first-ever national elections scheduled for July 19 – 21 to transition the organization from the interim leadership of Francis Hinnah who served as the founding interim president since the birth of the Federation in 2015. 

BEIJING, China –  A high-level delegation from the Liberian Senate has arrived in Beijing for a five-day official visit at the invitation of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC) and the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Monrovia – The Governments of the Republic of Liberia and the Kingdom of Belgium have signed an Air Transport Agreement aimed at strengthening aviation services between both countries. 

Monrovia – As part of the Girls Advocacy Alliance (GAA) Project, the Youth Coalition for Education in Liberia (YOCEL) has trained more than 40 persons comprising of members of Civil Society Organizations and key staffs of the Ministry of Gender Children and Social Protection, on status reporting and how CSOs and government institutions can build synergies in developing the country’s status report with emphasis on the Maputo Protocol.

NAIROBI, Kenya –  On Tuesday, July 16, 2019 the National Housing Authority (NHA) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Shelter Afrique for the provision of 1000 housing units for low-income earners.  

New Castle, Delaware – The Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) has termed as unfortunate the recent action by some officers of the Liberia Immigration Service (LIS) reportedly acting on the order of President George Manneh Weah to prevent the family of Montserrado County District #-10 Representative, Yekeh Kolubah, from traveling out of the country.
