MONROVIA – The Liberia Elections Observation Network strongly condemns the electoral violence in Gbarpulo, which again has prevented elections from taking place in Nomodatanau, Kongba district. The fact that a female candidate was targeted makes this particularly concerning. On line attacks have also continued against Senator Karnaga Lawrence. Although tallying has been peaceful across most of the country there have been tensions and disagreements in Bomi, River Cess, Sinoe and Grand Kru.

MONROVIA – The Deputy Minister of National Defense for Operations, Prince Vincent, has begun a nationwide tour in order to acquaint himself and assess the conditions of military facilities around the country. MONROVIA – The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) strongly condemns the wave of electoral violence that is escalating in Electoral District 3, Gbarpolu County linked to the conduct of the Special Senatorial Election (SSE). This trend of violence, harassment and intimidation of a female candidate is unacceptable and a deliberate attempt to influence the outcome of the remaining election that is scheduled to take place in Norman Town, Precinct Number 45039.

MONROVIA – The Environmental Justice Foundation (EJF), in partnership with the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), is launching a four-year project: Communities for Fisheries. Under the umbrella of the EU-Liberia Agriculture Programme, the project seeks to empower communities to co-manage fisheries and reduce illegal fishing, building lasting sustainability and social equity into Liberia’s fishing sector.
