Paris, France – Liberia has been re-elected as Vice Chairman of the Bureau of Education Commission at the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO) for the next two years( 2021-2022). The election took place at the 41st Session of UNESCO General Conference and the 75th Anniversary of UNESCO in Paris, France which runs from November 9th to the 24th, 2021.

MONROVIA — With immediate effect, Conex Oil and Gas Holdings(“CONEX”), officially takes over Total Liberia Incorporated and Total Sierra Leone Limited. The former TotalEnergies affiliates will now be referred to as Conex Oil & Gas Liberia and Conex Oil & Gas Sierra Leone respectively.

MONROVIA – The Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) will begin introducing the new Liberian dollar currency starting with the 100 Liberian dollar banknote in the tune of four billion Liberian dollars this December 2021. This amount is intended to increase Liberian dollar liquidity in the economy during the festive season. A second consignment of four billion Liberian dollars of the new family of L$100 banknote will be brought into the country during the 1st Quarter of 2022 to commence the gradual replacement of mutilated banknotes.

MONROVIA – The Liberia Electricity Regulatory Commission (LERC) will today Friday, 12 November hold a public hearing on the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) tariff application at the Kailondo Hotel located on the Old Road beginning at 10:00 a.m. The approved tariffs are expected to take effect beginning 1 January 2022.

Monrovia – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Péter Szijjártó has offered 10 scholarships to the Government and People of Liberia through Liberian Foreign Minister, Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., on the margins of the 2nd African Union-European Union Ministerial Meeting, held in Kigali, Rwanda from October 25—26, 2021.

Monrovia – The Government of Liberia, with support from UNDP and UNWOMEN, will undertake a series of consultations with Liberian women entrepreneurs involved in cross-border trade to sensitize them about the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement, which became operational in January 2021.

Monrovia – A consortium led by CERATH Development Organization on the 28th of October 2021 officially launched the Cassava Transformation Project (CASTRAP), at the Corina Hotel in Monrovia. CASTRAP is the Liberia national component of the West Africa Competitiveness Programme (WACOMP) funded by the European Union, under the 11th European Development Funds.
