Monrovia – The government of Liberia through the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority in collaboration with the Liberia Maritime Authority has expressed optimism that the yellow card issued by the European Union will soon be lifted. In 2016 Liberia was issued a yellow card as a result of a fishing vessel that was placed on the black list but was at the same time fishing in Liberian waters thus showing its lack of effective regulatory and monitoring control of distant water fishing flagged vessels.

On October 26, 2022, the Liberia Youth Task Team of the Africa Youth Partnership advocates for equitable recovery from the global COVID-19 pandemic, held its first National Dialogue on two thematic areas “Education and Skills training.” The event was held at iCampus on Carey Street in Monrovia. This dialogue brought together five partners including development along with 36 participants from the disabled community, youth groups, advocates, journalists and students of Liberia. The purpose of event was to discuss ways that would contribute to the development of marginalized (At-Risk Youths, Visually Impaired and Physically Challenged) groups in Liberia.

MONROVIA – Government Education Officers are currently undergoing training to enable them to efficiently monitor teachers, principals, and other school leaders at Bridge Liberia-supported schools across the country. The training, which is divided into 3 clusters, targets Government County and District Education Officers who have a direct mandate to ensure quality assurance at these schools. The Bridge Liberia education model has monitoring and supervision at its core with both human and technology delivering on this task.
MONROVIA – The Movement for Economic Empowerment (MOVEE) has registered a strong detest of what it calls the politicization of the National Population and Housing Census. The Party at a press conference on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at its headquarters described it as immoral for politicians to exploit the census process for political gains. MOVEE’s National Chairman, Mr. Robert M. Sammie said, the National Census is a fundamental national responsibility that must not be politicized. He said the party believes national census is a civic and patriotic obligation that all Liberians should embrace and participate in.
The President of the Republic, Dr. George Manneh Weah, has sacked with immediate effect the Acting Director General of the Liberia Institute for Statistics and Geo-Information Services (LISGIS), Wilmot Smith, and the Deputy Director General for Statistics and Data Processing, Alex M. Williams. The decision, the Liberian Leader said, is based on administrative reasons. Both men are ordered to turn over all properties belonging to the institution in their possession.
