MONROVIA – Josephine M. Poole, a resident of Gbarpolu County, never anticipated that she would become an advocate for women and girls in her remote village, nor did she imagine the opportunity to receive an education. However, thanks to ActionAid Liberia (AAL), Josephine not only completed her schooling but now leads a Community Based Organization in Gbarpolu named E’yangoon, which translates as “We are one.”

MONROVIA – Following the sixteen days of activism that documented violence against women and girls, ‘Men Engage,’ in collaboration with Men Engage Africa and the Men Engage Global Alliance—a group dedicated to working with men and boys for gender equality—hosted a Dialogue with Stakeholders to address various societal challenges.

The Pan African Plaza Building in Monrovia, now known as the One United Nations (UN) House, housing all UN organizations, celebrated the sixteen Days of Activism under the theme “Unite, Invest to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls.”

MONROVIA – In celebration of the 16 Days of Activism campaign, themed “Unite, Invest to Prevent Violence against Women and Girls,” and the national focus on “Empower Women, Secure Our Nation,” the United Nations (UN) Women, in collaboration with the Liberia National Police (LNP), recently conducted a brief lighting ceremony at the Headquarters of the National Police in Monrovia.

MONROVIA – The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) and the EU Delegation have donated electronic materials to Civil Society Organizations, including computers, laptops, chairs, radios, printers, mobile phones, and CCTV. The handover celebration took place at the Grand Royal Hotel in Monrovia, where EU Head of Delegation Ambassador Nona Deprez stated that the donation of materials is a customary tradition for the EU Observer Mission to support Civil Society by providing materials used during the Mission.

MONROVIA – Mr. Peter Nyanway has accused Grand Gedeh Resident Judge, George S. Wiles Jr., of unlawfully holding his daughter Janet Nyanway at the Grand Gedeh Correction Palace for receiving mobile money from him on behalf of her boyfriend, who had entered into a timber contract with the Judge but disappeared without providing the timbers.

The Civil Society National Reference Group (CS NRG), under the European Union Spotlight Initiative program, presented its year-end report with emphasis on human rights violations, mostly violence against women, girls, and marginalized groups that cut across all countries and cultures.

MONROVIA – The National Muslim Council of Liberia has extended its heartfelt congratulatory message to Liberia’s President-elect, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai, on his victory in the recently concluded elections. The Council, through its Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Fumba Sheriff, said the remarkable achievement not only reflects the trust and confidence the people of Liberia have placed in President-elect Ambassador Boakai but also represents a significant milestone in the democratic journey of a great nation.

MONROVIA – The head of the Delegation of the European Parliament, Mr. Leopoldo López Gil, has once again highlighted the misuse of state resources by the government and local government staff for campaigning during working hours, as well as the use of government buildings and vehicles.

Gibson High School in Monrovia witnessed firsthand electoral violence when riot police from the Liberia National Police (LNP) intervened in a serious confrontation between Representatives Acarus Moses Gray of the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) and newly elected Representative Prince Toles of District 8, Montserrado County.
