As The Ex CSKA MOscow Star Joins LISCR FC
Monrovia – Former CSKA Moscow forward Sekou Jabateh Oliseh has joined Liberia Football Association First Division Club LISCR Football Club on free transfer.
The once promising star of Liberia on last Saturday signed a one-season deal with the Shipping Boys with an option to extend for another year or two. Sekou Jabateh Oliseh has not played competitive football since 2016 following his knee injury.
The 29-year-old Liberian winger has been battling to regain fitness after being injured for three years. His injury has ruled him out of competitive football at both club and national team levels.
Based on the magnitude of his injury, people had thought that the bright career of the once “Wonder boy” of Liberia, had come to an end. The Winger in 2019 had a successful surgery on his knee and some recovery work indicates that the winger is on his way to fast recovery.
LISCR FC Secretary General Swen Bedell said Sekou is a great player with lot of experience that will help the team in their quest to win the 2020/2021 LFA league.
“Welcome to LISCR FC Sekou, feel at home as I present to you this jersey with your name on it,” Bedell said at the official signing and Unveiling ceremony.
The former Champions League player said it’s no secret that he has been out of football for a very long time, something all Liberians know but is now few steps to his return following his move to LISCR FC. He said he was happy when LISCR FC approached him to sign him, something he said came at the right time.
“I still believed that I have more to do and can still give back to football because I still have age in my favor so I decided to take the opportunity and today I am here and ready to give my all to LISCR,” he said.
He added, “Football is one language no matter how I’ve been out for even five or six years but I want to let the Liberian people know that my return, the rebirth of Sekou Jabateh, is going to be different because I love this game and I’m ready want to play this game. This is what I know how to do best and I am going to do everything possible to prove my critics wrong,” Jabateh said
The once “wonderboy” of Liberia said all of his former teammates at the national team have sent him messages of support for his decision to restart his career back home and they have even promised to send him football materials.
“You Know what it means one of the best football players ever coming from Liberia going down, you know injury can happen in football. For me, I am not worried; when a man falls down seven times he wakes up eight times so, standing back on my feet, I am ready to prove to everyone who thought I was gone, I am ready to prove them wrong that is why I am here in this LISCR shirt that, it’s not over yet there is still Sekou Jabateh Olise so long I have life there is also hope I am here,” the winger noted.
The former CSKA Moscow winger said he is feeling good once more after a successful surgery in India but said he was unable to go through the real rehabilitation due to the COVID19 because he could not go to the Gym and Beach to train.
