Representative Johnathan K. Koffa Secures Speaker Position with a Decisive Victory

MONROVIA — Representative Johnathan K. Koffa has been elected as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, garnering a significant majority of votes. The election results were announced this afternoon, revealing that Koffa secured 36 votes out of a total of 67, effectively positioning him as the leader of the Lower House of the Liberian Legislature.

The Unity Party-backed candidate, Representative Richard Nagbe Koon, trailed behind with 31 votes, making the race for the prestigious Speaker position closely contested. The total count of votes, 67 in all, showcased the engagement and participation of the members of the House of Representatives in this critical decision.

Following his victory, Representative Johnathan K. Koffa expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by his colleagues. In a brief statement, Koffa pledged to work tirelessly to address the needs and concerns of the Liberian people and to uphold the principles of democracy.
