The late Representative Youngblood was elected twice to the Liberian House of Representatives, making her the youngest person ever elected to the Liberian parliament. She passed away on July 8, 2020, in Accra, Ghana, after battling a prolonged illness, at the age of 36. She served three terms before her untimely death.

Following her passing, Foko was elected as the next Representative after serving as the Special Assistant to the late Representative Youngblood. Representative Foko has now served for over two years and is seeking re-election.

During his campaign launch, Representative Foko addressed the gathering, stating that he is on a mission to fulfill the late Representative’s dreams. He expressed, “After the late Representative served the district, the people believed in me and elected me, and I’m committed to carrying forward the legacy of the late Representative Youngblood.”

He continued, “When we won the election, we promised to honor the commitments made by Munah Pelham Youngblood during the 2017 election. Over the past two years and some months, with the help of God, we have made strides in fulfilling her dreams. I ask you to re-elect me so that I can continue to work towards completing her legacy.”

Representative Foko highlighted his accomplishments over the past two years, emphasizing his role in various initiatives. “Through our oversight responsibility in District #9, we have achieved significant progress. We brought in 45 transformers, greatly benefiting the local residents. Additionally, we worked closely with the health sector, particularly JFK Hospital, resulting in an increased budget allocation. We have also supported free tuition at government institutions of learning and covered WACE fees, ensuring that every student, regardless of their financial background, has access to education.”

Concluding his speech, Representative Foko called upon Liberians to pray for peace during and after the election and stressed the importance of prioritizing the country’s interests over personal ones. “I urge all my fellow citizens in all 73 electoral districts across the country to prioritize peace, both before and after the election. No personal interest should supersede the interests of our nation. I implore all leaders in Liberia to lead their supporters with positive messages,” he affirmed.
