Harper, Maryland County – Alexander Cummings continues his trek in hopes of making up for lost time.
The Alternative National Congress political leader who is currently on a tour of various counties has been assessing the conditions and getting a glimpse of the plight of rural Liberians as he fortifies his base and his quest for the presidency.
Following the warm reception received in Margibi, Bong and Lofa. Mr. Cummings arrived in his home city to throng of supporters in Fish Town, Zwedru, Pleblo and Harper.
Stumping in Vice President Joseph Boakai’s hometown, Foya, Lofa County, Mr. Cummings was named Saah Foya after which he thanked the people of Foya and promised to live up to the name which means “First Son.
The ANC political leader has promised to build roads and bring electricity to the people of Lofa if elected and also promised to commission a project in every district.
His supporters and aides say they have been impressed with Mr. Cummings approach and remain hopeful that he could be in strong position to make a play in the Southeast where they are hoping he could be well situated surprise doubters in the 2017 elections if he is able to stay competitive in a few other counties.
In every step along the way, Mr. Cummings was greeted by elders and youths who pledge support and commitment to his endeavour of running for the Liberian presidency.
It can be recalled that in the last few weeks Alex Cummings was elected the Political Leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) at a convention in Bentol, Montserrado County.
Immediately following his selection, the ANC embarked on a Nationwide tour looking to solidify his base ahead of what is building up to be a rather tight Presidential election.
Cummings critics say he may not have sufficient time to sell himself to the Liberian people but the candidate says he remains hopeful while trumpeting his strong work ethic.
“The work is just beginning and I have a lot more to do, a lot more travel. I want to get to all 73 districts, the work is still ahead, but I’m encouraged by where we are today.”
