The Editor,
Would like to first of all thank you and your staff for the tremendous contributions to our nation. From what I have seen and read on FPA, I have no doubt whatsoever, that you want the best and nothing but best for our nation.
I also understand that, FPA is in no way(s) liable for other people’s opinions. But, I believe to a greater extend FPA controls and is accountable for information and headlines that are published for the public’s consumption.
I was troubled by SUP referring to themselves as militants – “By directive of the Central Committee and Politburo, all militants, cadres and students are to be in full attendance”.
You know as well as I do, the word “activist” would have been better choice; instead of militant. It’s critically important that our young people including students make sure they don’t indulge and say things that scream violence.
We still have long way to go as a nation; but, some strides have been made; and it is important that we build on the little achievements (if you will) that have been realized. Violence has never been and will never be the solution to resolving our differences; we learned this the hard way; which resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of our relatives as well as the destruction of properties.
Considering the great contributions of FPA to the nation, it’s also important that, you take responsibility for educating and correcting what appears to be a lapse in judgement on the part of SUP leaders. Calling themselves militants obviously portrays the wrong message; this may not seem like a big deal; but, it is.
The minds of our youths need to focus on positive transformations, constructive criticisms and dialogues; misinformation has the propensity to create chaos. As Liberians, that’s the last thing we want to happen to our nation.
Absolutely, our youths including students and all Liberians have a constitutional right to protest issues/problems that affect the well-being and livelihood. But, it must be done and presented in a civil manner.
Once again my sincere appreciation to FPA for the awesome contributions to our beloved mama Liberia. May Almighty God, continue to guide and protect you as you stand up for the truth and the rights of all Liberians.
