Monrovia – The lifeless body of a 5-year-old boy, who went missing two days ago, has been found dead in an open well in Blegay Town Community in Ganta City, Nimba County.
Little Richmond Wonyen’s body was discovered after another seven-year-old child had gone to the same open well to fetch water.
Richmond’s mother, Linda Thomas, told this newspaper that she asked her little boy to go along with her for evening service at a church but he refused and she left him in the yard playing along with other children.
Linda, the mother of four, told our correspondent that when she got back home, Richmond was nowhere to be found.
There was no foul play on the 5-year-old’s body, according to a 15-man jury.
According to our correspondent, before Richmond’s body was discovered, community members had drawn water from the well and used it to cook and drink.
There are 28 communities in Ganta with each community having more than two open wells being used by residents of those communities.
Little Richmond, who was a Kindergarten-2 student of the New Confident School in the same Blegay Town Community, brings to eight children, whose lifeless bodies have been found in open wells in Ganta in the last two years.
