Monrovia –The Faith Healing Temple of Jesus Christ on Sunday celebrated the 100th birth anniversary of the church’s Founding Mother, Wilhelmina Dukuly, in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County.

Mother Dukuly was born January 17, 1917, and died on January 25, 1986.
As church members gathered by the dilapidated grave that had been robbed of the previous marble tiles by unknown looters, many stood in shock and shook their heads in sadness of the grave of their fallen mother.
She was affectionately called Mother Dukuly by all, and she was also well known for her prophetic radio messages aired on ELBC long before the 1990 civil crisis.
Gathered for the thanksgiving service held at the Jennie Bryant Memorial School for Girls started by Mother Dukuly, guest preacher Rev. Dr. Lawrence K. Bropleh preached under theme: Living After We Die”.
“Why after 170 years, Liberia is unable to remember presidents with pride?
Why it is that Bishops, Pastors and deacons are not remembered after they are dead? Because they are not living after they died.
But Mother Dukuly found Christ at the time in life when people thought she was useless.
But when she found Christ, she was bold and did not worry about what people said about her because she knew to live for Christ, mattered a great deal to her,” Bropleh said.
Rev. Bropleh said the life led by Mother Dukuly is still manifesting itself in the lives of many of her followers.
“This is why we are gathered here after a hundred years of her existence to celebrate her. What are we doing to live after we die?
We cannot because we are so cruel and hateful to one another in Liberia and always want to bring others down,” Rev. Bropleh preached.
Rev. Bropleh explained that the venue of the program which was upper Buchanan was the birth place of the Later Mother Dukuly.
Attesting to the healing powers of Mother Dukuly, Rev. Bropleh said he once witnessed Mother Dukuly healing a blind man.
“I visited Mother Dukuly church along with my grandmother and I remember very well because when I had the accident I was blind in my left eye, and was brought to her church for healing because she was known for healing many people.
But when she finally came to where I was sitting near a blind man, and healed the blind man, I eagerly jumped up and ran to call my grandmother to come and come see the miracle, but unfortunately, when I returned, she had already finished healing people, so I was left out.
I had never been so disappointed in my life like that day when I could have regained my sight, but I was so carried away by the miracle,” he said regrettably.
Rev. Bropleh: “Seeing the church celebrating the 100th Birth Anniversary of Mother Dukuly is a sign that she is living even while she is dead.
And seeing the Faith Healing Temple recommitting themselves to completing the Jennie Bryant School in Upper Buchanan is a great testament to the life that Mother Dukuly lived. I say this to say, Upper Buchanan is a historic place, because it is the home of Stephen Allen Benson, Liberia’s second President and Governor Thomas Buchanan.
This is the headquarters and capital city of the Bassa. So the historicity of Upper Buchanan will be highlighted in the building of the Jennie Bryant school for girls and it will send out a strong message throughout Liberia” Rev. Bropleh concluded.
