President Johnson-Sirleaf Praises Niger For Successful Elections

Monrovia – President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf today received in audience a Special Nigerien Envoy on behalf of that country’s re-elected President, Mahamadou Issoufou at her Foreign Ministry Office in Monrovia on Friday, March 25, 2016 – with a special message from her counterpart.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf congratulated President Mahamadou Issoufou on his re-election by the people of the West African nation who chose the democratic path as a surest means for transition. She assured the Nigerien Special Envoy that she remains committed to working with her counterpart at the levels of ECOWAS and the African Union.

President Sirleaf then lauded President Issoufou for sending a Special Envoy, when he could have opted to use diplomatic channels instead dispatched an Emissary, which was indicative of the closer ties, a symbol of solidarity and described it as a positive action on his part. She assured the Special Envoy that the Government of Liberia would communicate its response through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, the Nigerien Special Envoy, Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou thanked President Sirleaf for the opportunity and audience extended him along with the three-member delegation to Liberia.

He said President Issoufou looks forward to a favorable response his Liberian counterpart. He said Niger was pleased amid the economic development prospects the country is experiencing and described the country as a haven in the midst of stability-challenged neighbor.  Mr. Ouhoumoudou Mahamadou, who is also Director General of the Nigerien Cabinet, was accompanied by Ambassador Abani Ibrahim and Mr. Laouali Gouma Abarchi.
