It sounds too bemoaning and deceptive to have observed with great regret the flagrant disrespect for the rule of Law as regard the Code of Conduct which the ruling Unity Party violated during its National Convention in Gbarnga of last year with fleet of government owned vehicles and resources, but tried at the end to re-position themselves by rejecting to elect Presidential appointees in the UP County Primaries as a way of deceiving the general public.
Firstly, it is on record that the ruling establishment was quite aware of the Code of Conduct and all of its provisions yet selected and elected to have grossly violated the Law in the name of a challenge as spoken by the Secretary General and Minister of Information that “those who feel otherwise should use the judiciary system”.
While the case is before the judiciary awaiting adjudication, UP has seen red traffic light and would prefer losing the few National Executive Committee members like the Minister of Labor, Information, Deputy at GSA, and others than the fifteen Political subdivision (Counties) which in itself speaks to sycophancy and betrayal of trust.
I am less interested in all of the hullabaloos as relate to their reasons concerning conflict of interest when the very Party allowed same to have happened at its national convention in Gbarnga City, Bong County without any regret.
Was it not conflict of interest when government officials displayed countless GoL vehicles for a ruling Party Convention? For me, that is not the crux of our reasoning.
Secondly, it would have been a good decision had the Party allowed those County Officials especially those appointed by the President to contest since the case is stay before the court without a ruling.
Inherent contradiction by the Unity Party has proven that the “TRUE ESSENCE” behind the denial of the Presidential appointee is primarily to be on the good side of the ruling should it (the code of Conduct) favor those who have abide by the law.
This is where the true perception of deception comes in to play looking at the policy statement by elements of the ruling establishment like Min. Nagbe who said that “those who think that UP had violated the law should go to court”.
Again, don’t expect the ruling Party to say that the decision is based on the expected ruling by the Court, but question the ruling establishment what has the Party done to those who have grossly demonstrated flagrant conflict of Interest even in their Party at the level of national leadership?
Truthfulness is an attribute that is very easy to be demonstrated than finding a way to sell deception and obsequiousness.
This hypocrisy needs to stop so that our people can learn to trust all of us as leaders wanting national leadership.
Finally, it should never be precluded or slightly assumed that the Unity Party Executive Committee decision to reject Presidential Appointees is due to avoiding conflict of interest when they have wallow for almost 12 years in gross disrespect on conflict of interest with several examples lined up.
Importantly, Liberians need to read carefully some of the robust policies by the ruling establishment that had been given hundred forty four (144) months in a twelve year term for implementation, but only claiming execution within few months away from elections.
Please don’t ask me if it is my business except that we have to run red lines from the violation of the code of conduct perspective as well as the deception by the ruling establishment.
